Feet & Head Treatments FAQ

What type of pedicures does ikatan Spa offer?

At ikatan Spa, we exclusively offer natural, non-chemical pedicures that are safe during pregnancy.

I have Shellac on my nails. Can I still get a Pedicure at ikatan Spa?

If you have Shellac or gel on your nails, we kindly ask you to have it removed before arriving for your Pedicure. If you arrive with Shellac or gel, we'll offer you an alternative treatment. Please note that we do not work with the chemicals required to remove Shellac, Gel, or any other long-wear toxic polish. However, we're happy to help restore your nails once you've had it removed elsewhere.

What can I expect during a Deluxe Pedicure at ikatan Spa?

During your Deluxe Pedicure, relax in a large cushioned rattan chair in our communal garden room. Enjoy your complimentary pot of herbal tea or glass of champagne with a chemical-free pedicure. Choose a bottle of complimentary ikatan (7-free) nail polish to take home or upgrade to vinylux (5-free) long-wear polish for an additional $10 (which is kinder on your nails compared to Shellac).

Can ikatan Spa therapists use blades to remove callous skin?

In Queensland, it is not permissible for Spa therapists to use blades to remove thick callous skin, as this is considered a treatment conducted only by a qualified podiatrist. At ikatan Spa, we use a glycolic peel and coarse buffer to remove dry skin, successfully addressing skin that buffs off easily within the time frame of your pedicure.

Do I need to wear open-toe shoes after my pedicure?

Yes, it's advisable to wear open-toe shoes after your pedicure. Alternatively, you can purchase a pair of ikatan batik slippers for $10 to support our not-for-profit project.
