Seasons change, so do we and I never used to give the change of season a thought, unless it was about seasonal fashion, the must have colour pallet for in vogue clothes, shoes and hair. Yes, hair colours change by the season as do our bodies, mood, food and social patterns.
Transition of the Seasons
I always feel and notice the change in seasons particularly the shift from winter to spring as it seems more significant than the other seasonal changes. As winter draws to a close, we are more than ready to embrace warm weather bringing new growth in nature, projecting the world around us as a brighter, happier place.
The emphasis on ‘spring cleaning’ is not just an old tale, it takes place in our bodies, minds and nature without us realising. Spring is a season that entices us to physically act upon clearing and cleaning out after a winter of semi-hibernation. Making space, order and room to open up for the new season, it’s what we instinctively do, as Spring arrives.
Clearing out our homes, office, wardrobes and pantry is all a normal process to make us feel less cluttered and freed of things we no longer need or want. It’s an opportunity to sort, change and give to others the things we no longer need or want.
As Nature Blooms, So Do We
Spring is by far my favourite season because nature blooms, and so do we. There’s scientific evidence around more daylight in spring and summer offering health benefits for our immunity and improved psychosocial state. Seasonal changes can also affect our diet and our level of physical activity, two factors that directly impact the quality and quantity of our sleep.
We feel more open with a sense of “out with the old and in with the new” as winter turns to spring, which in turn makes us feel more positive and the shift in mood change helps to boost our health and wellbeing.
Spring, it seems, is also the right time to spring clean our bodies, exfoliate our skin and brighten up our face and body. While detoxing the body internally is popular after winter, so is preparing the body externally for when we pack away the winter clothes and slip on less clothes. Favourite spring treatments for the body are to have a body treatment to exfoliate and hydrate your skin, it’s the secret to making a great fake tan look real. Remember to wear a quality SPF protection on your skin always and particularly important as you head outside.
